Ethics & Disclosure
A site about minerals run by a minerals investor is only worth reading if the conflicts are handled out loud. So here they are, out loud.
Standing disclosure
CoCCuLiNi's owner is an active operator and investor in mining and critical minerals, including interests connected to Vitrinite (coal / critical minerals), Watauga, and various directorships and private holdings. Assume the desk may hold a position in or near anything it covers, and read accordingly. Specific overlaps are disclosed inline on the relevant story.
Our rules
- Disclose, inline, every time. When a story touches a company, project or commodity the owner or an affiliated entity has a position in, the article carries a clear disclosure line. No burying it on a policy page and hoping you don't notice.
- Opinion is labeled. The loud parts — The Take, the conviction meter — are clearly opinion. The facts underneath are sourced and separable from the opinion.
- No trade recommendations. We are commentary, not advice. We will not tell you to buy or sell anything. If you make money or lose money off the back of reading us, that was your call.
- Sources or it didn't run. Factual claims link a primary source where one exists. No fabricated quotes, no "sources say," no invented figures.
- We correct in the open. Errors get a visible correction note, not a silent edit.
- We are not a mouthpiece. The desk will criticize companies and projects the owner is involved with on the same terms as anyone else. If we can't cover something straight, we'll say why or sit it out.
Why you should still trust the takes
Because the bias is visible, not hidden. Plenty of mining media is conflicted and pretends not to be. We're conflicted and tell you exactly where, which means you can weigh the opinion knowing who's holding the pen. That's the deal. If a disclosure is ever missing where it should be, tell us and we'll fix it in the open.
Nothing on CoCCuLiNi is investment, financial, legal or tax advice. It is commentary and opinion, sometimes strongly held and occasionally wrong.
